Borderline personality disorder is one of the most common and most misunderstood of the serious mental health disorders. People
living with BPD are often stigmatized and avoided by treatment providers. New treatments are emerging and with the right treatment,
people with BPD can and do recover. Unlike other serious mental health problems, recovery from BPD is usually stable. Families
play a crucial role in supporting their affected family member’s recovery, but families also need support and nurturing to
recover from the impact of their family member’s illness. We hope that the information in this guide is helpful to you, and
to others who may have someone with BPD in their lives.
